  1. Islets were isolated from control CBA mice and Shb-transgenic mice of both sexes and at age 3 months and maintained in tissue culture for 18 hr after which insulin content and DNA content were determined. Values are mean ± SEM for 7 to 9 observations.
  2. *p < 0.05 when compared with corresponding value of CBA control islets using an unpaired Student’s t-test.
